Free Eye Camp for Slum Dwellers

A free eye check-up camp was arranged by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Pune, in association with K.K. Eye Institute on Sunday, 12 December 2004. The camp was held for residents of at Ajanta Nagar Slum in Akurdi, Pune. This is one of the slums that Amma's ashram is in the process of renovating.

Besides a routine eye check-up by ophthalmologists, the patients were specially examined for cataracts, squints, glaucoma, etc. Out of the 150 people who took part in the camp, 28 were selected for free cataract surgery. Free medicines were given to needy patients.
