When the orphanage was taken over by the Ashram in 1989,
it was in ruins. What few structures existed were totally
dilapidated. The children were being fed only once a day.
Since then, it has been completely renovated. With the help
of donations from Amma's devotees, the original structures
have been entirely rebuilt and extended. The children are
well cared for in every way.
In order to encourage the orphans and other financially
poor but academically gifted students to take up higher studies,
the Ashram has instituted the Amrita Scholarships.
If you wish, your donations will be used to create endowments,
the interest from which will be utilized for scholarships
or to buy books and supplies.

How to Donate in the U.S.
Donations toward Amma's charitable activities are tax-exempted
in the United States.
Donations made to M.A. Center in San Ramon from persons outside the
United States are tax-exempt in the United States. If said donors file
U.S. tax returns, they can make use of the tax-exempt nature of these
donations.
