Gurupurnima Celebrated at Amritapuri Ashram

13 July 2024 Amritapuri AshramGurupurnima Celebrations

The serene and spiritually charged atmosphere of Amritapuri Ashram was alive with the vibrations of devotion as Gurupurnima was celebrated with profound reverence. The festivities began early in the morning at 5 am with the sacred Ganapati Homa and Guru Homa performed at the Kalari.

At 9 am, Swami Turiyamritananda Puri performed the paduka puja of Amma. The paduka, or sandals, symbolize the foundation on which the Guru stands—truth and dharma. The entire ceremony resonated with Vedic chants, hymns on the Guru, the 108 names of Amma, and soul-stirring bhajans, creating an atmosphere of deep spiritual connection.

Swami Jnanamritananda Puri delivered an enlightening talk on the significance of proximity to the Guru and how to effectively utilize the presence of the Guru for spiritual growth. His words inspired the assembled devotees to deepen their devotion and practice.

In addition to the ashram residents, hundreds of devotees gathered to pay homage to the Guru Parampara—the lineage of Gurus—on this auspicious Vyasa Purnima. The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the timeless tradition of the Guru-disciple relationship, emphasizing the importance of devotion, truth, and dharma in one’s spiritual journey.
