19-22 July, Albuquerque, New Mexico -America Yatra 2024
Following her program in Los Angeles, Amma arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a four-day event held at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. The program drew huge crowds eager to receive Amma’s darshan, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Guru Purnima.
The day began with a short satsang by Swamiji, highlighting the greatness of the Guru. Amma then conducted bhajans, meditation sessions, and prayers for world peace, immersing the devotees in a serene spiritual atmosphere. {Gurupurnima news}. Amma distributed prasad to all participants, sharing her love and blessings.
Addressing the gathering, Amma spoke about the significance of Guru Purnima: “Human life is intended for an exalted goal. Each individual possesses at least a subtle awareness of the divinity within. Every human life is a quest for this divinity. In one way or another, every human being is continually searching for that completeness. However, currently, we are searching for that inner completeness in the external world. The source of happiness and love is within us—in the True Self, the Atma. Unfortunately, we are under the delusion that we are this perishable body. We are in the darkness of ignorance of our true nature. The guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and shines the light of true knowledge.”
Over the four days, Amma gave darshan to thousands, creating a sense of divine connection in the hearts of all who attended. The Chihuahuan Desert seemed to honor Amma as well; heavy rains brought life to the desert, followed by a beautiful rainbow, while Amma continued to embrace the people.
Brahmachari Sachinmayamrita Chaitanya, in his satsang, emphasized the essential role of Amma: “Despite knowing the ultimate illusoriness of the world, she is here to dedicate her life to awakening those of us steeped in the slumber of ignorance. And we desperately need her. Because without that compassionate mother, we would forever remain lost in the sleep of delusion.”
As Amma’s four-day program in New Mexico concluded in the early morning of July 23rd, the tour group moved to Washington D.C. for the next segment of America Yatra 2024.
