Better to wear away doing something beneficial to society

31 Jul – 2 Aug, Boston – America Yatra 2024

The program at Best Western Royal Plaza and Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, marked another inspiring stop on Amma’s America Yatra 2024. Thousands of devotees flocked from all corners of Boston from the early hours of the morning to participate in the spiritual event.

Amma’s presence filled the venue with warmth and love as she gave satsang, conducted prayers for world peace and harmony, and guided meditation sessions. Thousands of attendees received Amma’s darshan, each moment filled with deep spiritual connection and solace.

Brahmachari Sachinmayamritananda Chaitanya addressed the gathering, reflecting on the past five years when Amma could not visit the US due to the pandemic. He highlighted the significant contributions of Embracing the World during this time, which amounted to more than $10 million in medical treatment, economic relief, and vaccinations across India. The largest initiative was financial aid and basic supplies to AmritaSREE members, supporting over 200,000 women in 13,500 self-help groups.

“Amma always says, ‘Anyway, everyone’s body will one day perish. So, rather than letting it rust away by doing nothing, it’s better to wear it away doing something beneficial to society,’” Br. Sachinmayamritananda continued. He emphasized how Amma and the Ashram engaged in seva to help those suffering physically, emotionally, and intellectually during the pandemic.

The program also featured vibrant cultural performances, enriching the atmosphere with diverse traditions. Native Americans presented their tribal dance and African music and dance performances included a harvest dance from the Bamana people of Mali, called “Madan”, another dance from Mali called “Sunu”, and a dance called “Fula Fare” from the Fulani people of Guinea.

As the Boston program concluded, Amma and her tour group prepared to head to New York, continuing the journey of love, peace, and spiritual upliftment on America Yatra 2024.
