Life Becomes Meaningful Only Through Good Actions

20 Feb 2025, Karur, Tamil Nadu – Bharata Yatra 2025

Amma visited Karur for the second time, holding a public evening program in the premises of Amrita Vidyalayam. The event saw an overwhelming response, with thousands gathering to receive Amma’s darshan and blessings. Many distinguished guests and sannyasins were present to welcome Amma, as Karur is known as the land of Siddhas. The serene evening sky, painted with the hues of the setting sun, provided a perfect backdrop as Amma addressed the gathering.

In her satsang, Amma reminded everyone of the fleeting nature of life and the importance of living meaningfully. She said: “Life is a brief interval between birth and death. It becomes truly relevant and meaningful only when our actions are rooted in goodness. By ‘good actions,’ Amma refers to fulfilling our responsibilities toward nature, our fellow human beings, and all living creatures.

“The pandemic has tried to teach us many lessons—just as nature, or God, has been doing since the beginning of creation. If humanity had heeded these lessons, we might have been able to avoid many of the grave challenges we face today.

“Every calamity—whether a pandemic, a natural disaster, or climate change—reminds us of three essential values: cooperation, companionship, and communion. We must learn to live in harmony with our fellow human beings, in companionship with nature, and in communion with God. Even a small failure in upholding these principles will negatively impact all aspects of life.

“It is human nature to resolve conflicts through negotiation and compromise. However, we are now attempting to take the same approach with nature. While negotiations and compromises may work in settling disputes between individuals, communities, political parties, and nations, they will not work with nature. The only way to coexist harmoniously with nature is through humility—free from arrogance, with a bowed head and a heart filled with love and reverence.” Amma reminded all.

Amma sang bhajans mostly in Tamil. To make the devotees happy, Amma led Ma-Om Meditation, White Flower Meditation, and Manasa Puja, personally giving instructions in Tamil.

The program also included various humanitarian initiatives. Thousands of women from Amrita SREE Self-Help Groups received free sarees as part of the Ashram’s empowerment efforts. The large gathering of devotees was served free meals, ensuring that no one left hungry. The night also saw vibrant cultural performances by the children of Amrita Vidyalayam, adding to the festive spirit of the event.

Devotees patiently endured the cold, windy night as they waited for Amma’s darshan. Amma continued to give darshan throughout the night, embracing each devotee with her boundless love and compassion. The darshan concluded only at 7:30 AM the next morning. Even after standing for hours, Amma’s face radiated joy as she lovingly inquired if anyone had arrived late and had not yet received darshan.

As the devotees of Karur bid Amma farewell, their hearts were filled with love and gratitude. Amma departed for the next stop of Bharata Yatra—Coimbatore.
